Back in the capital, the University of Ottawa marks International Women's Day by hosting an "afternoon of discussion about women in Canadian politics," with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne among the scheduled speakers.

Meanwhile, hundreds of local feminists are set to descend on Library and Archives Canada for a full-fledged IWD "celebration," which will include an "activist fair," a "satirical feminist mock election debate" and the presentation of the 7th annual "Femmy awards."

  • Moving west to Winnipeg, Canadian Heritage Minister Shelly Glover unveils fresh federal funding earmarked for "the creation of jobs and opportunities for urban Aboriginal people," while Associate Defence Minister Julian Fantino outlines new spending plans at 17 Wing Winnipeg.
  • Finally, Minister of State for Western Diversification Michelle Rempel shows her government's support for "training and skills development for high school students", and "women entrepreneurs" during back-to-back appearances in Devon and Edmonton.
