Parliament's back in all its scrappy, pre-election glory... and so it's time also for the return of our weekly online live chat with Politics blogger Kady O'Malley.
On this week's agenda:
- Prime Minister Stephen Harper is in New York for some selective appearances at the UN — sending regrets to the climate summit, but attending a leaders dinner on its margins, and speaking to the General Assembly later this week — what can we make of his decision to go this year?
- Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau took issue with a rant by Sun TV host Ezra Levant that he thought crossed the line in disparaging his family and now says he'll boycott the Sun Media chain. Did Levant cross a line? Did Trudeau respond appropriately?
- Parliament's second week sputtered in dysfunction Tuesday with non-answers to the lead question on Canada's mission in Iraq and the resulting spectacle of the Leader of the Opposition attacking the Speaker and losing his turn in question period. Meanwhile, Conservative MP Michael Chong's soon-to-be amended Reform Act comes to a vote on Wednesday evening. What does this signal about the fall sitting?
