The National's At Issue panel gives their thoughts on the latest details in the Senate expense scandal, including what Mike Duffy's lawyer alleges the Prime Minister's Office did.
Lawyer Donald Bayne said at a press conference Monday that Duffy's living expenses were "cleared from Day 1" by then Senate government leader Marjory LeBreton's office, and when they later became controversial, the senator was pressured to take a deal from the PMO.
At Issue panelist Andrew Coyne called Bayne's press conference an "extraordinary spectacle" that contained a "strong whiff of blackmail."
Panelist Bruce Anderson said he expects many members of the Conservative caucus would agree the Duffy story has been among the government's worst managed issues.
