Newfoundland Liberal MP Scott Andrews wants to know just how much the government shelled out for now former Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Peter Penashue's final photo op on the taxpayer dime.
Via today's Notice Paper, here's his official request for all government spending involved in that broadband-related good newser in Labrador, which took place on March 11th -- a full four days before his resignation was announced and on the very same day that the domain for his new website, deliveringforlabrador.ca, was registered:
With regard to the March 11, 2013, announcement regarding broadband improvements for Labrador communities, what are all the costs associated with the event, including (i) writing, translating, and transmission of press releases, (ii) printing, (iii) production of backdrops, banners, or other visual material, (iv) travel and accommodation for any participants, (v) rental of equipment or facilities, (vi) any other costs?
Under the Standing Orders, the government has 45 days to respond to the query -- which, depending on the timing of the still-undropped writ, may land smack dab in the middle of Penashue's re-election campaign.
Stay tuned!
